Rally Report:Cambridge Rally
Location: The Camping and Caravanning Club Site, Trumpington, Cambridge
Date: 8th to 13th May

Marshal's: Mike and Ann Elliott assisted by Colin and Dianne Tarrant.
The Bessacarr Owners Club recently held a successful rally in the historic city of Cambridge, at The Camping and Caravanning Club site in Trumpington. The event saw a good turnout, with a total of eleven units in attendance, comprising nine caravans and two motorhomes.
A key event during the rally was the Club's Annual General Meeting (AGM), providing members with the opportunity to discuss club matters and make plans for the future. The AGM was conveniently held on-site, luckily the sun shone and the AGM was held outside and followed up with an excellent meal provided by Ann Elliott.

Mike and Ann had found a really nice venue for a group meal on the last night at The Rupert Brooke in Grantchester, which everybody enjoyed.
The Trumpington campsite, situated adjacent to Cambridge, proved to be an ideal base for the rally. Its proximity to the city allowed attendees to explore the many attractions Cambridge has to offer, while the site itself provided a comfortable and well-equipped venue for the club's gathering and AGM.
The Cambridge rally was enjoyed by all who attended, combining official club business with the pleasure of a well-located, well organised and sociable Bessacarr Owners Club event.
BESSACARR OWNERS CLUB - 2025 Pre-Easter Rally 6th to 13th April
Silverhill Woodlands Retreat Caravan Park, Sutton in Ashfield

The start of the BOC 2025 rally programme got off to a superb start at the Silverhill caravan site. 16 caravans and 1 motorhome made the journey, all sites hardstanding and several with the luxury of super pitches. 6 arrived on the Saturday and we had the pleasure of eating in the local pub some 5-minute walk from the site. The remainder arrived on the Sunday in glorious sunny weather.
The sun shone every day during the rally and by Friday 18+ degrees was recorded.
Monday morning we had flag with drinks and snacks. It was a great opportunity to reminisce with old friends and meet new ralliers John and Susan Parrott. It was also an opportunity for the committee to outline the 2025 rally programme.
Opposite the site entrance was the remains of the old Silverhill and Teversal Collieries. Walks were abundant on the reclaimed pit slag heaps on prepared footways with trees and lakes. The remaining museum Collery was at Pleasey some 5 miles from the site. It was wonderful to see the equipment still in working order. It made you appreciate the conditions miners worked in.

Hardwick Halls (old and new) were only 4 mile away. Both run by National Trust although the Old hall was maintained by English Heritage. It was interesting to learn about the relationship with the more famous Chatsworth House. The tapestries in the new hall were incredible and obvious priceless. It was gratifying to see how many people both old and young were visiting the halls and enjoying both the weather and scenery. Many other places of interest were found by ralliers.
The rally had a well organised meal on the Wednesday evening in one of the local eateries. The meal was superb with excellent company.
Friday afternoon and Pimms was flowing together with snacks and conversation.
Saturday was farewell flag after most had dismantled awnings and fitted front covers ready for an early departure on Sunday to miss the donkey parade. Eventually, only 1 donkey arrived and didn’t come into the site or block the entrance!
Finally, a great thank you rally marshal’s Les and Sue with assistance from Paul and Sandra. A great start to the 2025 rally programme.
